1. Call to Order - Upon announcement by the presiding officer that a quorum is present, the meeting will be called to order.
2. Verification of Compliance with the Provisions of the Open Meetings Act.
Dr. Gagorski, will you verify that we're in compliance with provisions of the Texas Open Meetings Act with regard to notice for this meeting? Ms. Schulte, I do confirm we're in compliance with the provisions of the Texas Open Meeting Act for our meeting tonight. We'll now proceed to the public comments section. Nobody has signed up to speak tonight, so we'll move on to agenda item 4.1.
4.1 Consider Board approval of the canvass for the Tuesday, November 8, 2022, Katy Independent School District Voter Approved Tax Rate election.
Consider board approval of the canvas for the Tuesday, November 8, 2022, Katy Ann and Pinnacle School District voter-approved tax rate election. Presenters, Mr. Justin Graham, election administrator.
President Schulte, Dr. Gorgorski, members of this board, everybody on this board, I think, is aware now. We've gone through the process, whether it be a bond meeting or a school board member meeting or a tax ratification election, We have to canvas the votes at the end of that process Again in November elections. We're a little bit behind the eight ball because unlike May elections, which my office runs November elections we are required to contract with the counties and everybody knows we're in three counties Waller County Fort Bend County and Harris County And so the question remains why are we doing this on the Monday before Thanksgiving when the district is closed? Well today is the first day that we got results back from Harris County official official results from their ballot board. And tomorrow is actually the deadline to canvas. So it either had to be this afternoon or it had to be tomorrow during this week that we're technically closed as a district. I did want to tell you we have Ms. Abares here. I think everybody knows Ms. Abares. She's in the corner. Again, we didn't run this election, but she has to coordinate. She's basically the primary point of contact for all three counties. And that's like her herding cats and she does an excellent job on that and we were really lucky to have her here and have her in that role the documents we put out preliminary numbers on friday in the board docs that we had we knew that those would change as soon as we got official numbers from harris county those documents have been updated as of this afternoon miss davies has gone ahead and updated those we had a 70-page photo report from harris county that we got today that is made publicly available online so anybody that's interested can go look precinct by precinct there's some interesting things in there um so that the vote the vote numbers that i'm going to read off to you are slightly different than the ones that were in the board packet on friday but again that's been updated and that'll be noted today uh harris county uh votes for proposition a that number's There's now 25,970 voters against Proposition A. That's 29,842 voters. Fort Bend County, for Proposition A, 19,480 votes. Against Proposition A, 23,984. And in Waller County, for Proposition A, 1,704 votes. Against Proposition A, 2,275 votes. votes. So again, if we calculate all the totals here that we have, the TRE was voted against by the voting public. A couple of interesting things I saw in the Harris County number that you see when you calculate the unofficial totals that we had on Election Day to the official results that we got today, there's about 400 votes. So that would have been 400 either provisional votes or overseas votes or non people that weren't present votes that we got which in the size of Harris County that's a very very very small percentage of note there of the you know over fifty four thousand fifty five thousand people that voted Harris County we were the last thing on the ballot and if you'll notice in Harris County Harris County of all of the counties across the entire country had the longest ballot in the country and Katie ISE's proposition would have been at the end so you thought maybe we'd have a large under vote the under vote wasn't that big it was only five point two two percent so you had most people almost 95 percent of people fill out their ballot all the way down given those numbers that you've got I'm happy to take any questions that this board may have or go forward with the motion
any questions have not all entertained a motion mr. president yes I made the

About the underlying data (6 notes)
- The transcript on this page was produced automatically by speech recognition. No person has checked it against the recording. It is a way to find a passage, not a quotation.
- No speaker on this recording is identified. The transcript separates one voice from another but does not name them, and every turn therefore reads Unknown speaker.
- The speaker turn timeline is not continuous. There are intervals with no attributed turn, so a gap between two turns is not evidence that nothing was said.
- The section titles and times are the district’s own video index for this recording, read from its player page on 2026-08-19. They are reproduced as the district publishes them.
- The recording is played here from the district’s own stream. The archive does not hold or serve a copy of the video.
- No speaker on this page is named. The automated attribution available for this recording was derived from names spoken aloud in the transcript, and a surname inside a turn is not evidence of who is speaking. Every speaker is therefore left unresolved.
