Madam President, Dr. Gorski, board members, we come here today, a fairly simple part of our elections process is the actual official canvassing of the election results. As you will note, on election night, we actually post our early voting totals when we get those shortly after seven, and then once we've counted all the votes on election day, we post unofficial election totals on our website. I will tell you that after the elections process happens and there are some additional steps we have to take which include collecting ballot by mails which were postmarked on or before May 1st which we would then receive on Monday May 3rd and we also have if we have any provisional ballots that are cast then our ballot board convenes to look at those. They actually did so on Friday the 7th. And so you can see that the votes by position which are posted on our on the website for this board meeting are just a little bit different than they would be for our unofficial totals and that discrepancy there is just the few ballot by mail votes that we get that come in on again Monday, May 3rd that were postmarked ahead of the election which were required by law to take as a valid vote and any provisional ballots of which we deem are good ballots to vote that being said a few notes from this year's election we had a very high turnout actually our turnout was a little low the first couple days of early voting but then it skyrocketed and on election day we had a very high turnout too so we had a record turnout number of voters for kdisd but that still that number still puts us at about four percent of the total registered voters for KDISD. So we have a little over 200,000 registered voters in KDISD. Again, when I say record turnout, record turnout for a May trustee and or bond election in KDISD. I've got, you know, our election, we have five early voting locations throughout the district where anybody can vote. And then we've got 13 precincts, which each have their own voting location on election day. So a lot of moving parts in this election. I do have some folks that I want to recognize in this room. Of course, I've got everybody knows Ms. Ellen Hebert. She's my right hand person. And I can tell you without her, the elections in KDISD would not happen. She does a fantastic job. I've also got Larry Jones. He's sitting next to her. He's one of our independent contractors that we use. He's been my deputy elections administrator for several years. He makes sure that everything is where it needs to be and assists the judges at the polling locations. I've also, I think Daniel's here. Everybody knows Daniel from technology. He also helps us with our elections. We've got a robust technology team that helps us. And then I've got my ballot board, which notably the judge on that ballot board is Bill Haskett. So Bill and Cindy Haskett help us with that. So a lot of folks that make this election happen. I'm gonna read some numbers and then I'll take a motion, or the board can make a motion for and we're gonna do this in two separate parts right because we had trustee board positions to open and then we had four bond propositions so we'll take the trustees first then we'll certify an order and then we'll do the bond election totals so for position six we had Bonnie Anderson with sixteen hundred and three votes William branch with 82 votes, Karima Dasgupta with 732 votes, Rebecca Fox with 3,011 votes and she was the winner, Susan Gesoff with 2,759 votes, and Joseph Wojcik with 166 votes. Then for position seven you got Walter Butler with 2,137 votes and Dawn Champagne with 5,777 votes and those are broken down by precinct you have in your board packet and are also available to be seen online happy to take any questions our motion

Madam President, Dr. Grygorski and trustees, again, you have this information in your packet and it's also available for anybody that wants to go online and look. We've got the final results for the 2021 May KDISD bond election. You will recall, and for members of the public watching, this is the first year that we have been under new, that we have put forward a bond package under new legislation. That legislation requires that your bond package be broken down into various propositions depending on what you're seeking voter approval for. Proposition A, which was our proposition for new schools and renovation schools, passed with 6,161 votes for, 2,423 votes against. Proposition B, which would have been your technology package for technology in the district, that passed with a total of 6,205 votes for and 2,326 votes against. Proposition C, which is the natatorium that will go into high school number 10 up on the north side of the district. And I will remind everybody that every one of our comprehensive high schools has a natatorium. and I think that your administration will tell you they're excited to be able to continue that tradition and standard in KDISD. That Proposition C passed with 5,439 votes for and 3,097 votes against. And then Proposition D, which would have been some renovations, repairing tracks, fixing a roof at one of our at Rhodes Stadium, which was over 40 years old. That proposition had to be a standalone proposition. It passed with 5,450 votes for and 3,089 votes against. Again, these are the numbers that were brought forth by the Central Counting Committee. After the ballot board convened last Friday, I'm happy to take a motion or any questions you may have.

About the underlying data (7 notes)
  • The transcript on this page was produced automatically by speech recognition. No person has checked it against the recording. It is a way to find a passage, not a quotation.
  • No speaker on this recording is identified. The transcript separates one voice from another but does not name them, and every turn therefore reads Unknown speaker.
  • The speaker turn timeline is not continuous. There are intervals with no attributed turn, so a gap between two turns is not evidence that nothing was said.
  • The district’s video index for this meeting carries no timestamps, so the recording is presented here as a single section rather than divided into agenda items.
  • The district publishes this recording as 4 separate files rather than one. The player on this page plays the first file; the later parts are on the district’s own player, linked above. Transcript times run continuously across the whole recording, so a time past the end of the first file will not play here.
  • The recording is played here from the district’s own stream. The archive does not hold or serve a copy of the video.
  • No speaker on this page is named. The automated attribution available for this recording was derived from names spoken aloud in the transcript, and a surname inside a turn is not evidence of who is speaking. Every speaker is therefore left unresolved.
