Items 1 & 2

Unknown speaker not human verified

I hereby call this special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Katy

Unknown speaker not human verified

Independent School District to order. Today is Monday, May 13th, 2019 and the

Unknown speaker not human verified

time is 12 o'clock p.m. By law, for the purposes of canvassing election results,

Unknown speaker not human verified

only two board members are required to constitute a quorum.

Unknown speaker not human verified

Noting that at least two board members are present, the board will now convene

Unknown speaker not human verified

an open meeting. Mr. Grugorski, will you verify that we are in compliance with

Unknown speaker not human verified

the provisions of the Texas Open Meetings Act with regard to the notice of this meeting.

George Scott not human verified

Madam President, I confirm we are in compliance with the provisions of Texas Open Meeting Act

Unknown speaker not human verified

in regards to this meeting today. Agenda item 3.1, Mr. Justin Graham.

Item 3.1

Unknown speaker not human verified

Trustees, thank you for being here today. The purpose of this meeting is fairly simple.

Unknown speaker not human verified

We do this every May. It lasts about three minutes. We canvass the official vote total

Unknown speaker not human verified

as required by the Texas Elections Code. You will see that in the recommended

Unknown speaker not human verified

action item it actually has Mr. Keller with 4,093 votes and Mr. Redmond with

Unknown speaker not human verified

7,563 votes. Those vote totals have been updated in the position count on the

Unknown speaker not human verified

agenda item details. Now let me tell you the reason for that. We had eight

Unknown speaker not human verified

additional votes that were cast last Friday even though we were closed as a

Unknown speaker not human verified

district we convened the ballot board together and the purpose of that is to

Unknown speaker not human verified

review any additional ballot by mails that were postmarked timely in any

Unknown speaker not human verified

provisional ballots which we had four we had four ballot by mails and four

Unknown speaker not human verified

provisional ballots so you will see in the final totals an additional eight

Unknown speaker not human verified

voters votes in both races but all eight votes voted in both races so that will

Unknown speaker not human verified

will be the minor discrepancy that will also be updated online on the KDISD's

Unknown speaker not human verified

official tabulations page once we canvass these votes today. So you'll see

Unknown speaker not human verified

the numbers in front of you for position number one you had Mrs. Fox with 3,321

Unknown speaker not human verified

votes, Mr. Keller with 4,097 votes, and Mr. Dolan with 1,065 votes. For position

Unknown speaker not human verified

position two you have Mr. Redmond at 7,571 votes also attached online to the public documents so

Unknown speaker not human verified

that anybody can go in and look we have a breakdown by precinct of total votes both early voting and

Unknown speaker not human verified

election day in total and those numbers again are available online for anybody that wants to go look

Unknown speaker not human verified

and as a reminder to this board we have 13 different precincts while we have five early

Unknown speaker not human verified

voting locations we have 13 official day election day precincts again a map for

Unknown speaker not human verified

anybody who's interested is also available on the district's election

This speaker is named from the district’s own record of who was present and from the presiding officer naming them on the recording. The question mark means the block of speech may not be only theirs: the recording was divided by machine, and a long stretch can run two voices together.
