On behalf of my colleagues, I welcome everyone to this evening's regular board meeting.
Each board member received the agenda and documentation for this meeting Thursday, March 22.
22nd and have had four days to study its contents and receive clarification from Dr. Hint.
Additionally, the Board met last week in a work study meeting to receive information and recommendations from staff,
administration, and the superintendent on these agenda items.
Board members were able to ask questions and receive answers and should be prepared with responses and action tonight.
The Board has just reconvened from closed meeting in accordance with Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code.
Any action arising from discussions in a closed meeting must be taken in an open meeting.

I move that the Board of Trustees, as recommended by the Superintendent in closed meeting,
approves the one-year employee probationary contracts, one-year employee dual assignment probationary contracts,
one-year employee term contracts, one-year employee dual assignment term
contracts, and two-year employee dual assignment term contracts for the 2018-
2019 school year of current employees who have been issued contracts covering
the 2017-2018 school year with the exception of those employees who have
resigned or a decision has not been made at this time concerning being
recommended for a contract for termination or for proposed non renewal

Aye. The motion passes 7-0. With this discussion on personnel, I'd like to
issue the following statement on behalf of the Katy ISD Board of Trustees. The
district found itself in the middle of a national media storm last week. The board
wants to present our response, something by law that we could not do until this
official meeting. Viral videos, edited tape, false statements, and gotcha moments
are a part of our modern news cycle and social media culture.
Yet often, these frenzied attacks lack context and distort the truth.
As trustees to our children and their parents,
our responsibility is to act on behalf of our community
and judge our superintendent based on the totality of his record.
His 27 years of service to students and the community
as a teacher and administrator,
Not just on the claims of what a 14 year old boy is led to have done 40 years ago
The board fully vetted dr. Lance hint before hiring him
Before hiring him two years ago, and we continue to do so, his strong leadership and fulfillment of our vision
since then has affirmed our decision. We stand united with Dr. Lance Hint.
We understand the optics from last week made it seem like we are insensitive to allegations of bullying.
However, that could not be further from the truth.
Sometimes moments like this remind us of why
why we became so passionate about public education.
Even if the facts aren't exactly correct, our motives are unclear, it gave us a chance
to look at what more we can do to continue to erase the bullying at Katy ISD.
Prevention and intervention is not new to this district.
In fact, continuing to find new solutions is part of our long-range strategic plan,
plan, including our year-long development of a mobile app that will provide another
way for our tech-savvy kids to report bullying incidents.
KDIC has no tolerance for any action that may constitute bullying or cyberbullying.
Each campus has in place a set of programs to protect our children.
We constantly encourage students to report incidents, and we investigate and discipline
those who engage in such activities. As a board, our resolve to be leaders in bullying
prevention remains solid. So too is our support of Dr. Lance Hint.

As indicated, I've spent 27 years dedicating my life, my passion, my commitment to my family,
to my students, to staff, and to the communities that I have been privileged to serve.
But folks, I recognize, I'm telling you, I recognize I am not a perfect person.
I don't think anybody in here really is.
is and I do recognize that while I understand the perception, please know
my reaction this past monday night
was one of shock. It wasn't one of disrespect or insensitivity. I was
purely shocked,
You know, to the hometown that raised me and where I now proudly serve, I regret the negative attention that's been brought to this community in the past week.
weak. Ultimately, ultimately, I'll be judged by one person. Yes. Yes. And that is God, my Lord and Savior. That's who will judge me. Now moving forward, I pray and I ask everybody to pray.
that our combined efforts will continue KDISD's commitment to providing, as I tell my staff all the time,
providing a safe and secure learning environment for our 78,000 kids and our 11,000-plus employees,
what I call our superstar staff.
You know, serving this board and our community, I'm telling you, is the greatest personal
and professional privilege of my life.
Who gets to come home and do what I get to do?
And for that, I am, I am telling you, I am thankful.
And I would like to personally thank this board for your unwavering support.

here, Bobby and Ann Guess. Bobby is band director at Wood Creek Junior High and
Ann is the choir director at Wood Creek Junior High. That fine arts is in the
family, all right. But they've got brothers, Vasili, did I say it right?
correct me, Vasilia, all right there you go. That's the sister and Zachary the brother. Zachary is he
in the house? Okay, all right let me talk about special interests. Researching animals, reading,
playing outside, and going to the Greek school. Favorite subjects, reading, science, map, and

Henson fourth grade homeroom teacher Zoe is the most incredible young woman she
is a self-driven and loves furthering her knowledge through her own research

who are members of the Texas Association of Future Educators at Miller Career and Technical Center.
This organization allows students to explore the teaching profession and they participated at the Texas Association of Future Educators Teach Tomorrow Summit, which was held at Sam Houston State University.
The students presented lesson plans, original children's books, and completed presentations on administrators, which earned them a place as national qualifiers.

Youth Art Month State Capitol Exhibit. This 100-piece exhibit showcases pre-K through
through 12th grade art from across the state of Texas
during March, the National Youth Art Month.

Next, the Harris County Department of Education has awarded 69 Scholastic Gold Key Art Awards
Item 5.4
to over 54 KDISD students.
Since its inception, the Scholastic Awards have established a track record for identifying
the early promise of our nation's most accomplished and prolific creative leaders.
The artwork these students have produced has been on display recently at numerous venues
throughout the Houston area.
The works of art were judged nationally in New York City by panels of renowned artists
and art educators and is based on three criteria which are originality, technical skill, and
emergence of a personal vision.
One gold and six silver medals were recently awarded at the national level.
The National Award Ceremony will be held in June at Carnegie Hall, where these medalists
and their educators will be honored with a star-stunned ceremony.
Additionally, this year we have two American Vision nominees.
Only five nominees were selected from each region to advance to the national competition
for this award, and it is an honor to have two of those five come from Katy ISD.

outstanding school district communication initiatives and strategies.
In addition to receiving several Silver and Bronze Star Awards, the Katy ISD
Communications Department won six Gold Star Awards, which is the organization's
highest honor. They are the logo of Bryant Elementary, the Bison logo for
Bethke Elementary, the Welcome Home Dr. Hent Convocation video, the branding

We'll now move on to our report section of the agenda, item 6.1, 2018-2019, budget update.
Item 6.1
Mr. Smith.
All right.
Well, good evening, President Vann and Superintendent Hindt and trustees.
I'm pleased to be here tonight to give you yet another update on how we're progressing
with the budget.
I want to start off with what you saw originally a couple of months ago in January.
We're building this budget.
We're building it on current law.
That's not as relevant this year as it has been in the past since the legislature is
not meeting this session, but we are developing under current law.
We're looking at student enrollment growth of 2.9 percent.
That's an increase of 2,248 students, a bigger increase than we projected to have last year.
We're looking at property values, increases of 5%.
Again, we've talked about it before.
We've added, we've increased over 9% the last 10 years.
We're being what we think is conservative at 5%.
We hope it's conservative at 5%, but we just don't know.
Nobody has that crystal ball.
I don't but when I will give you an update in at the May board meeting where we will have that number

looking at 149 new teachers as far as in 135 non teachers
as part of the staffing plan that you
Presumably will approve tonight or considering for approval tonight
That's not as many as we had last year if you look at the column on the left
remember last year we opened an elementary school and a high school and
not just at one elementary school that we're opening next year we are having
more growth but we are not opening two additional campuses oops we are
currently using 2% or a total of 3% for salary increases I've spoken before
about those rotten apples and how in public in Texas it's very difficult for
inflationary things when it comes to the way that all school districts not just
Katy ISD operate on so we are working diligently on trying to do that for our
people mr. Smith if I could quickly comment to that if you'll put the screen
back there board if you recall last year we were able to approve that salary
increase for all of our employees in the April meeting it is likely that we won't
do that it will be likely that we bring it to you in May the 2% and the 1% that
as listed right now we're waiting to see what our appraisal values come in we've
got 5% right now of course if that comes in a little bit higher it may give us a
little bit more flexibility but this is a starting point for us so with those
assumption using those assumptions we're looking at a tax revenue increase of 40
million dollars I'm sorry 20 million dollars excuse me 20 million dollars
other local revenue at this point is the same state funding there is a shows a
small increase remember this is the official budget that we adopted in
August our enrollment has been stronger than we anticipated so as you'll as we
move forward in the budget progress process and I start using the amended
budget you're going to see a decrease from one year to the next when it comes
to state funding even with a small increase in the Austin yield we are
going to make less state funds even with the higher enrollment projection 15
million dollars worth of new enrollment numbers no additional state funds and
likely as we move forward less state funds TRS contributions that's in blue
I'm going to show you the expense that's going to add up to the total amount in
in blue later on about four slides away.
And in federal revenue is a very small percentage of our budget.
From an expenditure standpoint, 88% of our budgets in salary and
benefits, the staffing plan that you have, is largely the same ratios that we use
based on our campus staffing ratios.
Outside of salary and benefits, the purple slice is our second largest expenditure,
or expenditure area.
majority of that's in utilities at our at our campuses and then of course the
green area that would be classroom supplies etc but even a large portion of
that is on fuel for for buses and white fleet as far as where we spend our money
not what it is on but where we spend it the far left is where we want to be
that's what we're all about we we work real hard as administration and put all
all the monies resources we can into the classroom and you can see that 45 445
point 9 million is in our official budget for the year we're in but again
based on the plan that we're developing that materially will not change as far
as all our funds that the majority of our funds being directly in classroom
instruction I will point out that small gold piece because that was mentioned at
length at the Finance Commission last week we have a very low administrative
administrative cost ratio, we're under 4%, we're about 3.93, I believe it was, 3.94.
You could double our administrative costs and probably still be within the limits that
Schools First outlines. So we do have very thin, low administrative costs in the district.
Again, this campus staffing plan that you have, it considers the new facility, the one
one elementary school and the staffing associated with that in
addition to teachers it has the ancillary positions such as bus drivers,
food service workers, etc. And then also the campus staffing plan as I mentioned
earlier does consider district-wide growth. From our expenditure standpoint
the total current positions that column on the left you can see that column
that's the first number on the right that's just bringing the total teacher
pay group up to the next year starting out at 338.5 million dollars from
current teacher paid positions. There are new positions tally of about 9.9 million
and then you can see the salary increases that we put in there for the
teachers paid range. As far as non teacher pay group again the same thing
You can see the column on the right starts out with the bottom one on the left.
That just brings those positions up.
We'll fine-tune that as we move forward along through the budget process.
That's really all we can do right now.
But we're looking at $134.4 million in that.
Oops, I will point out that the salary increases are there.
and if anybody did the math it's 4.8 million dollars for every 1% salary
increase 4.8 million dollars yes for every 1% 4.8 million looking at things
that are also part of the salary and benefits budget but but are not on
salaries like the last slide stipends of 8.9 million dollars are rounded 8.9
million dollars is one of the larger ones on here substitute teachers
Obviously when a teacher is absent instruction doesn't stop. We bring
substitutes in and we are labor-intensive because we do supervise
78,000 students and so we try to continue instruction and the
supervision of those students so that's one of our higher ones. And then overtime
and supplemental pay this would include our largest expenditure here would be
summer school or Katie summer term is the largest one in that. As far as
benefits go, if you you may notice that the right-hand column is a little less
than the left-hand column that's a good thing. It appears as though we may have
put a little too much money in the budget for health and medical last year
which is good. So we've got some that that's helping helping manage this
budget next year by creating just a little bit of savings but the number on
the right we at this point is good based off the staffing plan that you're
considering TRS 1.5 percent local contribution that is the tax that was
added as part of the 2015 legislation I say tax I didn't nickname it the tape
the payroll tax but it is our contribution as a district to fund the
TRS for the teachers retirement system of Texas that was added in 2015 there
There was not a revenue associated with that.
That is just an expense to keep TRS solvent.
TRS statutory minimum, I'll point out again,
that's one of the ones that we pay.
We're fortunate to pay above the teacher minimum salary
schedule in the state of Texas.
Because we pay more than that, we
owe additional funds to contribute to TRS,
and that's about $7.3 million.
And then anybody that's new to TRS,
the first 90 days of employment, the district
picks up the entire portion.
The state doesn't pick up.
portion. We spend about $7.3 million there. So the subtotal payroll budget, you're looking at about $591 million. I'm going to start out with that number there on the right and talk about the blue section, and that's what I mentioned earlier. This is the state's contribution, the state's giving the cash to TRS on our behalf. That was shown in the revenue. We show it as both revenue and expense on our books, but the cash does come from the state.
state of Texas and again that's based on our number of members that contribute to
TRS all right non payroll campus allocations that's the big moving target
with our 60-plus campuses there's not as much money there but that is the
supplies and etc for a large part of what we do we've done that part the
campuses are done by and large with that and we're working on the departments the
departments you'll see a larger number that is because that's where the
utilities are things like summer school campus-wide testing appraisal district
fees etc come out of that so you're looking at about a 82.9 million dollars
and what we're estimating right now in non payroll costs so next month and
that's really other than letting you know what we're going to do next month
next month Jeff Robert our financial or municipal advisors now not a municipal
advisor not financial advisor any longer from first Southwest or Hilltop
securities will be here to talk about our debt plan and our debt budget it'll
be our first look at the debt budget we will also be while he's here we are also
going to be asking for approval for parameters for our next bond sale or our
first bond sale from the 2017 authorization that we have not made that
first sale on that but we will be getting ready to do so sometime this
summer and that begins next month in April and then in May I'll have a
similar presentation that I'm doing tonight at that time it'll be a little
bit more details and at that time as Dr. Hint mentioned we'll have our property
values or an estimate of our property values a lot better estimate than
what I'm able to provide you at this time and with that I thank you for your
time does it have any questions for mr. Smith mr. Halsky okay hey thank you mr.
Smith if you don't mind would you go back to the slide on the the revenue
estimates for one moment and I appreciate the way that you explain
those to us when you give us these updates certainly where we are still
experiencing enrollment growth here every year as evidenced by the new
schools that we keep building and opening and we're also experiencing a
property tax growth at the same time actually outpacing the student
enrollment by a little bit on a percentage basis but illustrating that
all while that's happening our state funding is actually going down and you
actually expect it to be down on a net level next year once the amended budgets
come in or you're comparing us to minute buds this year that's a it's
disappointing and but I do thank you for continuously pointing that out I think
it's something we need to continue to talk about but you have one question off
this page as well because we are seeing the the it's on the federal revenue line
because we're seeing it cut almost a half next year I was just wondering if
there are some programs that were discontinued or what what what is the
reason for that our largest our largest federal revenue is char's it's what we
do on a daily basis for that Medicaid reimbursable there was some timing
issues that we did that we've encountered and basically in the 1718
school year I anticipate recording two years worth of Shars revenue in the 17-18 school year so it was just a one-time blip
And and we're gonna have to record it twice
It's not gonna be any additional funds to the district, but it will be recorded twice in the 2017-18 school year
Okay, so if what we're looking at here then on 2018-19 is becoming more normalized. It's more than norm. Yes, sir. Okay. Thank you very much

Sure. The amended budget that I will amend sometime during the summer, right now would still be an estimate because we're still having school.
But in late June, we'll do our final PEIM submission for the year.
And at that point, I'll know all the exact numbers that are used for state calculation numbers.
I could guess right now, and it would be pretty close.
But at that point is when I normally will amend the budget.
And you'll see our state revenue that we budgeted over a year ago go up slightly because our enrollment has been a little bit

and I think it would be important for our community to see that.

Hello, good evening Superintendent Hint, Madam President, members of the board.
I'm pleased to be here. Thank you as always for having me.
As Dr. Hint said, I'm just quickly going to walk you through the survey results.
We did survey employees across the district on this policy change.
So in the hopes that this information could inform your decision.
Just a few details about that survey.
It was open from March 7th through the 21st.
We emailed links to every staff member in the district.
There was also a public access link available to them.
It was available in Spanish.
We sent out reminders to those staff who had not yet taken the survey on the 13th and the
20th of March.
This was not a random sample.
We wanted every staff member in the district to have an opportunity to participate in the
survey.
So because of that, the responses in the survey are specific just to those who took the survey.
and I'll talk I'll speak to that a little bit as we go through the data
Within the boundaries of the ISA thank you that is an important clarification
Yes, those staff members who do not currently live within the bounds of the district and I'll show you some of those numbers as we
Go through this
Specifically those those numbers there you can see there was 26 or
2622 staff members who fall into that category who received invitations to take the survey
We received responses from just over 1,100 of those, so 42%.
The first thing you'll think of when you see that number is, well, what about the rest of them who did not take the survey?
What implications or assumptions can be made about those?
And the reality is none.
You're not really sure what the rest of them would have said.
If you asked me to guess, I would say that for a lot of them, this policy change would not impact them, so they opted not to take the survey.
but it's certainly likely that there are some that did not take the survey who would be impacted by the policy change.
So I'll speak to that a little bit more as we go through the survey results.
But as Dr. Hindt said, those that do not currently live within the district received an invitation.
When we look at the numbers by location, this is a lot of information
we wanted to show you who, where we saw a lot of participation.
You can see 72 staff members that work in the education support complex, Human Resources Annex took the survey.
We also saw I say hide numbers were speaking relatively here.
Cinco Ranch High School, you can see 25 from there, 40 staff members from Katy High School, 48 from Maid Creek High School.
Just highlighting some that that had relatively high numbers of employees who took the survey, 19 from Pato High School.
And I'll come back to this whenever we look at what the results look like.
Again, this is just participation. Those staff members who were invited to take the survey, these are the responses we got by worksite.
So when we asked that entire group how interested they would be in a modified policy, you can see that a far majority of them were very interested.
71% very interested, 13% somewhat interested, and 16% not at all interested.
Those that said they were very or somewhat interested, we asked them if they have a school-age child or children who would be in school within the next five years.
Almost 70% said that they would.
And then we asked that group if they would bring their children to Katy ISD if they had that option.
And you can see almost all of them said that they would.
And I'll give you some hard numbers around that.
But you can see the total number that responded to that question was 619 employees.
employees. So quick math, just a little over 600 said that they would. From there, we started asking
them a little bit about their children to get an idea of what the impact of that change would be
on the schools. You can see that almost two-thirds of them are currently in school, most of them at
the elementary school level, and there was another 38 percent that have school-age children, I'm
sorry, children that are not yet of school age. From there, we started asking them how many children
they have at each level. So you can see I'm going to show you by campus but if
you see this the way this math works is we ask them how many children they had
at each level so you can see the totals there in the far column. 367 current
elementary school students, 129 current junior high students and I'm sorry when
I say current we asked them about the the coming school year so it could be
that they're in a transition year right now and 120 high school students. So
So again, this isn't straight numbers of staff because a lot of them have multiple children.
From there, we looked at their work site.
Because remember, the policy or the question was if they had the option of bringing their
children to a campus that was near their work site.
So we cross-referenced this with where they said that they work and saw that there are
some schools or areas of schools that would feel a little bit more impact than others.
I've highlighted just some here.
And you can barely see it up there, but I'll call them out.
these were schools or work sites that had higher 10 or higher so elementary
schools located near the ESC about 14 elementary students approximately based
on these responses about 11 elementary school students for staff that work at
Bear Creek Elementary you see in the Katy high school area there's 12
students at the elementary level so elementary schools that are located in
proximity to Katy high school and then 11 at the high school specifically
And then another list here, 23, which I think was the highest of all these, at the elementary school level on the Maid Creek High School worksite.
So staff that work at Maid Creek who would bring their kids to elementary schools near that school.
Ten at the Morton Ranch High School elementary schools.
And then for Tompkins High School, there were 18 children approximately that would attend elementary schools near that high school.
There's one more on this list and I've got another set to show you at the Seven Lakes
High School.
Staff that work there, there are about 11 elementary school students that would attend
a school near that high school.
Last list here.
I'm not sure why it's not, there we go.
All of these in the case are 11 students here, but these are all at elementary school level,
but it was staff that work at McDonald junior high Taylor high school or at the transportation east department
Now again, I'll just run through kind of a high-level overview here
Remember there were 1,200 staff that didn't take the survey so we certainly can't assume
How many of them have children or where they would attend?
It's likely that a lot of those wouldn't be impacted by this change
But you certainly shouldn't take these numbers and think they're exact
This was meant to give you guys an idea of what that impact could look like
So just a quick summary and then I'm happy to answer any questions. The work sites that were most represented by those who took the survey were the ESC, Human Resources Annex, Maid Creek High School, Katy High School, Seven Lakes High School, and Tompkins High School. That was just the highest numbers of staff members in those locations participated.
participated. Overall, 84% of the full-time KDISD employees who responded to this survey and reside
outside district boundaries said they would be very interested or somewhat interested in a
modified policy. And if you remember, most of those, over 70%, were very interested.
It's projected that this would add about 615 students to KDISD schools over the next five
five years. Again, just looking at those survey responses from those who took the survey,
367 at the elementary, 128 at the junior high, and 120 at the high school level.
The last bullet there, based on these survey responses, it looks like those elementary
schools in proximity to Maid Creek and Tompkins would be impacted the most by the policy change,
though the impact was, we say minimum, but less than 25 additional students. That sign is actually
backwards it should be less than 25 students happy to answer any questions
that you guys have about those survey results
madam president this policy kind of makes me happy in two ways number one
dr. hint thank you for talking to your teachers getting feedback and bringing
it to the board we always talk about taking care of our teachers but here's a
policy directly impacting them but what really gives me the warm fuzzy is people
talk about moving into their schools to bring their kids to the school so they
moved here, but here we have teachers who are fortunate to work here and now not only
do they work here, but they want to bring their kids.
So when you tell me there's one slide that says if they had 97% they'd bring their kids
here and then the other one says 84 says they want to, and that just tells me we're doing
something right.

Madam President, I have a question about the ESC number and the Katy High School number
when you highlighted those yes wouldn't those go in the same pot because the ESC
is in the Katy High School attendance zone so those numbers kind of go
together or is that wrong they could because they're physically located
towards one another we just based this off of where they work so if they work
in this building they're in the ESC annex Katy High School that's where they
work so I think that's a logical conclusion because geographically
they're close to one another but these numbers are based on where they work
That makes right and so my understanding madam president is that you will send your kids to the school
closest to where you work or the feeder pattern at the school closest to where you work is how our
Our policy reads now right right, so it wouldn't necessarily mean Katy elementary school
It could be any elementary school that feeds to Katy high school or if they live near Katy high school, so right
Ken has buried himself in that policy in the last few weeks, so let me let Ken answer that for you.
And I'm just using Katy High School as an example.
I'm not singling them out.
I'm just asking a general question.
Certainly.
Those are certainly good questions, and you could go through all the schools and kind of match them up.
A similar issue might be over at Seven Lakes, where Seven Lakes High School and Junior High are on the same property,
so you'd have to add those two together and look at elementaries in that area.
The policy about bringing your child would be to the closest work location, not the feeder pattern.
Now, once you're within the system, that's when your subsequent applications could go the pattern.
So let me try and explain that.
So let's say your closest work location is X elementary school, and you're there.
Sooner or later, that elementary could go to two different junior highs.
So at that point the employee would make a decision do I want to go to this junior high or this?
Depending probably on those
Friend groups that they made in those schools and where they're going so once you're in the system
It gets a little more complex to just open it up to any school in any feeder pattern because when you look at it
We've got some high schools that would have like five elementaries and then whether it be too much choice in there
So once you're in the system at your closest work location as you progress through
That's when you have to make some choices based on those friend groups or whatever you want to choose at those levels.
Same thing goes when you're in the junior high. If it splits to two, you would have choice at that time between the two.
That answers my question. Thank you so much.
I have a question. You noted that there was 1,549 that are identified as not living in the district that didn't respond.
And there's no, I guess there's really no algorithm or crystal ball, as Mr. Scott would say, to kind of, I guess, gauge.
Determine if they have kids?
Well, or just gauge a number at all.
There isn't.
Because it's a manageable number is what's projected right now, in my opinion.
But that's for having almost 10,000 employees, over 1,500 not responding out of our overall amount of employees.
Right.
Right. So based on traditional survey behavior, most of our non-responses are those that just don't have an interest in the topic that we're surveying on.
So that's why it leads me to say the likelihood is that a lot of them just wouldn't be impacted by it.
That's why they didn't take it. But that is absolutely an assumption.
Madam President, this is Doyle.
I think this is a question geared for Mr. Gregorski.
And it's my understanding that if that teacher is no longer employed in KDISD and they live outside of the district, their child will then be removed from the district if they are no longer employed.
They won't continue to finish school here even though mom or dad do not work here anymore.
That would be correct.
As long as you're employed by the district, you would be approved for that transfer as long as you're in good standing as well.
There is some criteria to remain in the district.
but as long as you're an employee so if you if you change work locations no
longer working for Katy ISD then we would allow you to remain until the end
of a break as in a semester or school year and then you would no longer
qualify for that transfer to remain in Katy ISD.
Which the valid point is we're hoping this doesn't only help us with recruiting and
retain but the retention of those teachers as well. Mr. Scott? Whomever. Could you just kind of go to the bottom line in terms of managing this financially and impact on campuses, elementary, junior and senior high? Is this something that you feel comfortable that we can do? Yes, I do and I'm going to let Chris who, Mr. Smith talked to it. The question was, Mr. Smith, the management of it financially
You explained that to the board last time that it's not like for every kid we're going to hire another teacher or an FTE.
We're going to be able to manage it with existing seats,
and we actually believe that it's going to be a net plus to the district,
even with the minimal amount of state aid that we receive.
Because now we have more real numbers to actually do the modeling.
Absolutely, and we've got some available space.
If you noticed in the survey, I was pleasantly surprised with the Maid Creek area numbers.
And this provides those folks in that area who work for the school district to bring
their kids and to have them in our school settings.
Dr. Hindt did a great job answering the question.
I don't know what more I can say.
It's $5,140 is the basic allotment that we get that's adjusted for KDISD.
So we get the adjusted basic allotment for each one of those students.
And Dr. Henson very well said they're not going to all add in one spot.
They're going to be spread out.
And as they're spread out, perfect world.
It's good financially.
There are going to be some cases where it's going to add an FTE or two.
but as the odds are in my opinion that it will we will come out ahead financially by far.
Madam President what is KTE for the layman in layman's terms?
Teaching position and I have one more question if I may. You say 615 over five years. Do you have
a concrete number for next year do not so the way it was asked it said do you
have a school a school-aged child or children who will be attending within
the next five years so
