We'll actually, we won't all have frizzy hair this year. That'll be a nice thing. And let me just say a lot of the reason for our success is from our cornerstone investor, BP, who has continued to contribute $40,000 for this BP STEM grant program. I do want to take a moment to ask you to thank BP tonight. BP is represented this evening by Iris Cross, Senior Director, State and Local Affairs and Executive, director BP Foundation Inc Maria Vizzo communications and external affairs director at BP and Marta Vassell who serves on our foundation board would you all please stand and just one more one more moment I'd like to share a proud moment of coming coming together. This month our board voted unanimously to stand alongside KDISD and its extensive Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. We did understand that the board of trustees and the district was in a strong position to support facility recovery, so our board in consultation with Superintendent Hint launched a special project to focus on the individuals in our district, a one-time fundraiser as required by our board of directors. As a special project, 100% of our Harvey relief fund will be be distributed to Katy ISD staff, students, and their families adversely affected by flooding in their homes. The foundation will collect donations through mid-October. While this is happening, Katy ISD campuses will be identifying the students and staff in need of support. No Harvey funds will commingle with any other foundation initiatives. Collection of funds will end in October and be dispersed in November. As of today, almost $63,000 has been raised. I know many of you in this room have contributed so thank you. I sincerely, sincerely appreciate the generosity in helping us support our Katy community in this extraordinary time of need. And now one of the most important reasons we're here it's to honor the wonderful 2017-2018 Inspiring Imagination Teacher Grant recipients. So to do that I'm going to welcome Janet Tice. Janet and Coach Clayton I have a freshman so you have to be there at

least three more years. Madam President, Board Members, Dr. Hint it's exciting to present to you year five the KDIC Education Foundation Teacher Grant Program. Before I do that I want to thank Tara for her leadership, Vice President Susan Smith, Treasurer Ken Yonda, Dr. Hinn is our secretary, and there are a number of board members in the back of the room and quite a few out in the hall. But we have extraordinary leadership just like you guys, and it is a sweet partnership, and we are incredibly grateful to them. Had new five board members tonight in an orientation who are joining us. So that board continues to grow and continues to thrive. Ms. Doyle, thank you for representing the Board of Trustees in our circle. We're grateful for that. As Tara said, we gave away $284,000. That affects 32,680 students this school year. 263 teachers at 34 campuses all around Katy ISD. I am going to introduce the teachers, and they're going to come in here and wave at you. And if you'll just applaud for them and celebrate them. We did not give away every grant that we could. Not every application that was submitted was deemed worthy of funding. These folks who come in here tonight have survived a serious, intense scoring process. It means their application, not only did they have a great idea, they wrote it well, they presented it well, and somewhere in there their heart and their passion for teaching and kids came through. And so they really are truly to be celebrated. So are you ready? Oh, the door's locked. We locked them out. We can save the money. Before I move on, I want to thank my girls. Heather Sanders and Tammy Stringer and Marlene Alban are here tonight. And they are gracious hostesses, and I just could not be more proud. I can walk away, and this thing runs like you wouldn't believe just because of them and their commitment and their passion. So, Ms. Miller, are you ready? Come on. About the underlying data (8 notes)
- The transcript on this page was produced automatically by speech recognition. No person has checked it against the recording. It is a way to find a passage, not a quotation.
- No speaker on this recording is identified. The transcript separates one voice from another but does not name them, and every turn therefore reads Unknown speaker.
- The speaker turn timeline is not continuous. There are intervals with no attributed turn, so a gap between two turns is not evidence that nothing was said.
- The district’s video index for this meeting carries no timestamps, so the recording is presented here as a single section rather than divided into agenda items.
- The district publishes this recording as 2 separate files rather than one. The player on this page plays the first file; the later parts are on the district’s own player, linked above. Transcript times run continuously across the whole recording, so a time past the end of the first file will not play here.
- The district lists 3 files for this meeting. The archive holds and has transcribed the first 2 files only, so anything in the remaining 1 file is not represented on this page.
- The recording is played here from the district’s own stream. The archive does not hold or serve a copy of the video.
- No speaker on this page is named. The automated attribution available for this recording was derived from names spoken aloud in the transcript, and a surname inside a turn is not evidence of who is speaking. Every speaker is therefore left unresolved.
