Next on our agenda I'd like to introduce Miss Maria DiPetta, manager of media relations and multimedia for the recognitions portion of the meeting tonight.
Good evening Madam President, board members and Superintendent Hint. Tonight we would like to present the top two students from each high school ranked highest academically in their respective Graduating class to introduce the valedictorian and the salutatorian from Cinco Ranch High School. Please welcome. Mr. James cross
Everybody kind of disappeared on me.
Maybe that means I need to get up.
It was still a little bit like we were the only ones in the room, Dr. Hintz. Good evening everyone, Madam President, Board members and Superintendent Hintz. I am really really proud to announce our salutatorian and valedictorian of Cinco Ranch this evening. We'll begin with our salutatorian and the young lady who is our salutatorian this year is Miss Tiffany Chin-Yu. I wasn't sure if Tiffany was going to be able to make it tonight. her parents are Jin Yu and Audrey Chin Yu. Tiffany is an all-star student leader at Cinco Ranch High School. She serves as an officer for National Honor Society. Oh wait let me back up her GPA is 4.7937. Yeah I know and just that's the salutatorian. So in addition to these leadership roles she's involved with several clubs in and out of school as part of Cinco Ranch Future Business leaders of America chapter. She's competed at the district, state, national levels earning awards in database design and application, word processing, business law, and business calculations. Additionally, she participated in Cinco Ranch High School's robotics team. I should say nationally ranked robotics team, academic octathlon team, Science Olympiad state team. Outside of school, she trained in ballet and jazz at Adamson's Ballet School, engaged in a variety of art classes ranging from fashion design to digital art. From the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's Geisel School of Art on a scholarship awarded by Portfolio Review. Over the summer she took part in Make School Summer Academy where she learned a program in Swift. Upon completion of the academy she released her own application on the Apple Store called the Pet Planner. So pretty clever stuff. Tiffany plans to continue her education at at Dartmouth College where she hopes to double major in economics and computer science. I don't think she spends a lot of time on Netflix. Oh, Tiffany, you're here, great. Great. Are your parents here as well? Mr. and Ms. Hsu, would you please be recognized? All right, great, I'm so glad you made it. All right, our valedictorian at Cinco Ranch this year years, a young lady named Tricia Mott-Haven. Tricia, are you here? There she is. And her parents are Raghu Mott-Haven and Swati Mott-Haven. And Tricia is a scholar and musician who will be attending Princeton University in the fall. As a veteran of the research labs at Stony Brook and University of Iowa, Tricia takes pleasure in questioning the unknown and challenging the accepted. I know that because I know Tricia as well. Entering her findings into competitions like Intel, ISEF, and Siemens. Outside the lab, Tricia enjoys competing with UIL's science team and organizing activities like science museum trips, math tutoring sessions, and engineering challenges as president of the Science National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and visionaries and inventors of tomorrow's school clubs. Tricia also takes joy in providing Facebook tech support to her grandparents. That's a cool thing. And in giving back to the community by repairing medical devices for developing nations through Project Cure. Growing up in Japan, Tricia contracted the travel bug, which took her to, among other places, Costa Rica, where she taught English, instructed sustainable farming practices. Sounds just like me in the summertime, too. Her current goal is to travel every continent before she turns 21. Africa and Antarctica, she's coming for you. Back at home, Tricia gets involved by influencing public and environmental policy through work with governing representatives. I will say this, a little side note, three years ago I stood right here and her older sister, Serena, was our valedictorian as well. So something good is happening in that household. Again, not a lot of Netflix watching, I'm sure. So it's my privilege to introduce and recognize Miss Trisha Mott-Havan, Cinco

Good evening, Madam President, Board Members, and Superintendent Hint. It is indeed my honor to be here tonight to bring to you the recognitions from the Texas Art Education Association's Visual Arts Scholastic Event. It recognizes exemplary student achievement in the visual arts. This year from our region in 4 West, 114 students advanced to state and out of those students, 54 were from KDISD. That specifically represented our district. So proud of these students. These works of art have been juried through region, area, and state competition. While at the state competition, it was announced that there were 32,000 pieces of art entered across the state this year. And at the state competition, roughly 6.5% of those students were invited to advance. So our students were able to participate in this statewide competition and we're extremely proud of them tonight. 41 students at the event received a top state medal for an exemplary rating of 4. And out of those students, 4 students earned the awarded gold seal medallion this year. There are only 150 total gold seal medallions awarded and only eight students from our region received the gold seal medallion. Of those eight students, four were from Katy ISD. About the underlying data (7 notes)
- The transcript on this page was produced automatically by speech recognition. No person has checked it against the recording. It is a way to find a passage, not a quotation.
- No speaker on this recording is identified. The transcript separates one voice from another but does not name them, and every turn therefore reads Unknown speaker.
- The speaker turn timeline is not continuous. There are intervals with no attributed turn, so a gap between two turns is not evidence that nothing was said.
- The district’s video index for this meeting carries no timestamps, so the recording is presented here as a single section rather than divided into agenda items.
- The district publishes this recording as 17 separate files rather than one. The player on this page plays the first file; the later parts are on the district’s own player, linked above. Transcript times run continuously across the whole recording, so a time past the end of the first file will not play here.
- The recording is played here from the district’s own stream. The archive does not hold or serve a copy of the video.
- No speaker on this page is named. The automated attribution available for this recording was derived from names spoken aloud in the transcript, and a surname inside a turn is not evidence of who is speaking. Every speaker is therefore left unresolved.
