Independent School District to order. Today is Wednesday, May 18, 2016 and the
time is 11 a.m. By law, for the purposes of canvassing an election, only two board
members are required to constitute a quorum. Noting that a quorum is present,
the board will now convene an open meeting. Chair Nowak, Secretary of Board
Services, will you verify that we're in compliance with the provisions for the
Texas Open Meeting Law in regard to the notice of this meeting? Yes, Mr. President,
Mr. President, we are in compliance.
Mr. We'll go to Section 3, Action 3.1, Consider Board Approval of the Canvas of the May 7,
Item 3.1
2016 Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees Election.
Ms. Mr. President.
Mr. Ms. Fox.
Ms. I move that the Board of Trustees canvas the results of the May 7, 2016 Katy Independent
School District Board of Trustees Election as reported by the Central Counting Committee
and declares the winners of each position as follows.
Position 1, George Scott with 1,475 votes.
And Position 2, Rebecca Fox with 2,249 votes.
Second.
I have a motion by Rebecca Fox, a second by Charles Griffin, that the Board of Trustees canvases the results of the May 7, 2016,
Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees election as reported by the Central County Committee
and declares the winners of each position as follows.
position one George Scott with 1475 votes in position to Rebecca Fox with
two thousand two hundred and forty nine votes any discussion hearing then we'll
proceed to vote all those in favor raise your right hand and say aye aye
as opposed motion passes two to zero I've received and approved a petition
requesting a recount for the race of trustee position one followed by Joe
Adams. A request for recount does not delay our canvas today, but the board
must make note of the canvas record that a record, I'm sorry, that a recount has
been requested and that I will now do. No candidate may receive a certification of
election or qualify for an office involved in a recount until the recount
is completed. If the recount changes the number of votes received by a candidate
and the race subject to recount, regardless of a change in outcome of
that race the board must conduct another canvas for the office involved as soon as practical
after completion of the recount using the recount committee report as allowed by election code
section 211.004 i am designating the board secretary ashley vann to serve as recount
supervisor coordinator that moves us to section 3.2 consider board certification the may 7 2016

2016 Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees election.
I move that the Board of Trustees certifies the May 7, 2016 Katy Independent School District
Board of Trustees election for position two, whereas Rebecca Fox was duly elected.
Second.
I have a motion by Charles Griffin, a second by Rebecca Fox, that the Board of Trustees
certifies the May 7, 2016 Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees election
for position two whereby Rebecca Fox was duly elected any discussion glad to have
you back hearing no further discussion we'll proceed to vote all those in favor
raise your right hand and say aye aye those opposed motion passes two to zero
and miss Fox I would like to tell you that instead of doing the swearing-in
ceremony today we would like to do this on the 23rd so that everybody can be
present thank you very much any time having no further business before the
board this meeting is adjourned at 1103
