I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, one Israel, with liberty and justice for all. Honor the Texas flag. I pledge allegiance to the Texas, one state, under God, one and invisible.
Hey folks, this is Ms. Jordan Holly. They thought she was in fifth grade because she's so smart, but she's only in fourth grade. She's a with Dr. Anne Lilleen as the principal there. And she's a proud daughter of Ms. Dara Holly, she's here. And she has a, she has some sisters, Max and Billy Ray.
Not here. She seems excited about that.
All right. Jordan likes to draw, she likes to sing, and she likes to help people. Her favorite subjects are math and science. And this is what Mrs. Cruz says about you, Jordan. Ready for this? One could not ask for a better student than Jordan. She strives for excellence daily and positively follows wherever she goes. It is evident by her actions that she cares deeply for others. She is currently a member of our safety patrol role and is an amazing role model for our kinder buddies. Whether she is setting an example for others or cheering a friend up who is down, Jordan definitely has the power to touch the lives and hearts of all that she encounters. I have no doubt that she will continue to do great things both now and in the future. And Mrs. B. Yorkman says this, well, Jordan is a bright student. She is dedicated to every subject and she never gives up. Jordan, Holly, welcome, glad to see you. All right? Thank you.
Good evening, Superintendent Fraley and KSC Board of Trustee members. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be here tonight. The teachers at Galbo are responsible. You worked hard.
You worked hard. You did work hard. Good evening, Mr. President, Board Members, and Superintendent Fraley. For our first recognition this evening, we have a very special guest with us, KDISD namesake Mr. Gerald D. Young. Young was recently selected as one of only six individuals nationwide for the 2014 National Association of Agricultural Educators Lifetime Achievement Award. Throughout his career in Texas agricultural education, Young was instrumental in providing professional development opportunities and resources to instructors to keep Texas agricultural education programs on the cutting edge and meet the demands of employers, colleges, and students. At this time please join me in congratulating Mr. Gerald D. Young. All of the KDISD FFA chapters would also like to present Mr. Young with a gift at this time.
When I came in, I've never been accused of being the sharpest pencil in the box. But when I came in, I saw the ag teachers, and I clipped their hands, and I saw the ag students. I said, oh, good. I'm going to be recognized, and they're going to be recognized because of the shows this week. And then after I get in here, they said, you realize these young people and the teachers are here for you. So I just want to let you know I've had a lot of proud moments, but this is the most proud I've ever been, being a teacher.
Mr. President.
Ms. Fox.
Excuse me, please. Mr. Young, thank you so much for your gift to our district and the legacy that you have left, represented by the many, many students around this room wearing those jackets and the creation they made for you, that I would like to put my name in for one of those but many many of our buildings around our district carry names of people who have lived lives of integrity and honor and service without regard for personal gain and it's an honor sir to have your name on our on our building associated with KDSD thank you for your service
The Ford Leadership Scholar Program is a result of the Texas FFA Foundation, Ford Division, and Texas Ford Dealers Partnership to enhance the leadership opportunities of Texas FFA members. Each year, the Ford Leadership Scholar Program selects 10 students from across the state to participate in the program. And last year, Katy High School's Caleb Dautrich was selected as a scholar. As part of the program, Dostrick attended a week of special leadership training in Austin this past summer, met regularly with a mentor, and was asked to complete a community service project. For his project, Dostrick acquired a $20,000 donation from Centerpoint Energy and received approval from the City Council to build an arboretum in one of the city's community parks this spring. In addition to enhancing his leadership skills, Dostrick will also receive a $1,000 scholarship from Texas Ford Dealers by participating in this program. Please join me in congratulating Caleb Dostrick. Congratulations on your achievement. Next we will recognize KDIAC's 2015 All-State Athletes. Time allowed will be divided equally among those requesting to speak. The maximum amount of time allowed for any one speaker is five minutes Individuals who have written comments to present to the border and curse to provide the statements to the assistant superintendent for school and community engagement Dr. Andrea grooms who is seated to your right? These written statements will be shared with the board due to posting requirements of the open meetings act The board is only able to respond to a presentation that is directly related to a posted agenda item For clarification purposes, the open forum is not a dispute resolution forum. The Board is not trying to prevent any patron from speaking. The intent is to redirect patrons to the proper grievance process so that action can be taken as appropriate. Employees or members of the public who wish to express complaints about a student matter or district personnel are reminded that they must follow and exhaust all administrative remedies prior to presenting complaints to the Board. As I announce your name, please come to the mic and state your name. Tell the board whether or not you reside in KDSD and whether or not you have children presently enrolled in KDSD We have one speaker signed up tonight So that will be allotted five minutes when there's one minute remaining our sergeant ours miss Courtney Doyle will give you a verbal indication of such Our speaker tonight is Lori and she is not present so that concludes the open form okay we will move on to the consent agenda
mr. president mr. Adams I move that the Board of Trustees approves the consent agenda as recommended by superintendent item 7.1 through 7.19 check well have a motion by mr. Adams
Seconded by mrs. Fox at the Board of Trustees approves the consent agenda as recommended in item seven point one through seven point Nineteen all those in favor. Please raise your right hand and say aye motion passes six to zero Okay, we do have one Discussion action item on the agenda, but I believe we will only be discussing tonight. Is that correct? That's correct. Okay Welcome mrs. Stevenson
Good evening. President Mohoski, board members, Superintendent Fraley, we are bringing one contract forward for you to review this evening, and that is the proposal for network and wireless electronics. This is the hardware that goes with the e-rate services and the other contracts that we brought forward to you at the last meeting. This hardware will be installed throughout the district. The determination of the hardware that was needed was based on the contracts for the services that we presented to you at the last meeting. Because of the complex nature of the network and the equipment thereof, we engage the services of education partner solution to provide the specifications based on the infrastructure design and review the proposals that were submitted and after reviewing both of the proposals that were submitted the recommendation is to award to Presidio both of the suppliers that bid were Cisco qualified providers and integrators and however Presidio offered the best overall pricing and also should be noted that the pricing that we're presenting includes the SmartNet, which is the product support services. There's also contingency allowance built in for any unanticipated needs that we may run into as this equipment is installed. The installation will begin after July 1st, 2015, which is the effective date of all E-rate contracts that we have awarded this year and will be completed by September 1st of 2016 the total cost is six million nine hundred seventy five thousand seven hundred and seventy seven dollars and 58 cents and it is included in the 2014 bond fund however the district will seek a right funding for any qualified
hardware that we install thank you Stevenson there any questions mr.
president mr. Griffin I just like to make a quick statement about the internet service that we provide our students really quickly i just worked a trip this weekend with a young man that students went to st louis and we were talking about some of the things that we have available to us here at katie and uh they do no internet work at the school that his child went to he pulled his child or two children out of public school to go to a private school and And based upon the discussions that we had, they're moving their family from St. Louis to Houston to take advantage of the systems that we're talking about here. So we're talking about why do we get 3,000 kids moving in here? It's these programs that we provide our students. And his first comment was, wow, so your kids are prepared to go out into the world. I said, yes, we are.
Nice. Okay. Am I correct? That this will actually be an action item at the work-study meeting next month. That is correct That's correct. So that needs to be awarded because of the e-rate deadlines of the e-rate deadline So we were having the discussion tonight and then it will come back and I guess we all have a discussion action item on the In the work-study on March 16. Okay, so mr. President Sparks. I appreciate very much the
administration especially superintendent Fraley's Up to us in this area when he brings us ideas and let's us give gives us time to work on them all over them ask our questions make sure we've we are comfortable with all the data before being asked to vote and so while this is a little bit out of what we normally do it's in keeping with exactly the way that mr. Fraley brings us items to consider for votes all the time and so I appreciate that much president Mahalski
this will be a consent item on the next agenda item on the next okay instead of
an action item okay thank you very much okay trustees I will point you to the information item portion of our agenda which has the donated items to Katy Independent School District report and at this time I'm also going to recognize mrs. Fox who has I guess a donation to to talk about.
MS.
I do. Thank you very much, Mr. President. So our Board is continually pursuing excellence in being a Board member. And by doing so, we go to lots and lots of trainings that people know nothing about. And that's good because we keep up on the latest educational issues that face us in the state and in the nation. And so we do those several times a year where we travel to do them, and then we do them around the region and so we attend one that's called the Gulf Coast Area Association Association of School Boards meeting it's not easy to do it's lots of ugly traffic and it's late nights but we do that and we keep abreast of things that are happening and so that happened last Wednesday night and so we're in the room with other trustees and superintendents and educational leaders from around region 4. Something else I think is very interesting is region 4 is responsible for 20 percent, one-fifth of the state's population of students, which is about a million students from our area, a million plus students from Texas was represented in that room every month. And they give out scholarships just randomly with the drawing and happy to report KDSD about $500 as a scholarship to contribute to our fund. And I'm happy to present that. And it rarely happens. We go for the training, and we came out with something good for KDSD. And so I know we'll put this to good use for students. And I just wanted to recognize that, and also for the thanks for the support of this board. Because we go, and while all of us can't go every time, we continually go. and I like to see that this board is so focused on being the most informed and Very involved trustees, and I think it shows them the excellence we give our kids and I appreciate mr. Adams stepping up and giving his leadership to the state board a secretary. He's very respected and we're thankful that you're there Thank You mrs. Fox and could I get the check to mr. Smith, okay It's not eight million It's not eight million dollars, but for refunding Wow if you have a check for mr.. Smith he will fall over for it
Good to know Okay Our future board meetings we will have our March board work-study meeting on Monday March 16th and our regular board meeting on Monday March 30th So there's a week in between this time 2015 and there being no further business. We are adjourned at 736 up 737 p.m.

About the underlying data (7 notes)
- The transcript on this page was produced automatically by speech recognition. No person has checked it against the recording. It is a way to find a passage, not a quotation.
- No speaker on this recording is identified. The transcript separates one voice from another but does not name them, and every turn therefore reads Unknown speaker.
- The speaker turn timeline is not continuous. There are intervals with no attributed turn, so a gap between two turns is not evidence that nothing was said.
- The district’s video index for this meeting carries no timestamps, so the recording is presented here as a single section rather than divided into agenda items.
- The district publishes this recording as 7 separate files rather than one. The player on this page plays the first file; the later parts are on the district’s own player, linked above. Transcript times run continuously across the whole recording, so a time past the end of the first file will not play here.
- The recording is played here from the district’s own stream. The archive does not hold or serve a copy of the video.
- No speaker on this page is named. The automated attribution available for this recording was derived from names spoken aloud in the transcript, and a surname inside a turn is not evidence of who is speaking. Every speaker is therefore left unresolved.
