Peter Wood from the Nation Association of Scholars posted an open letter today, asking the University of Houston to take the allegations of Dr. Lance Hindt’s doctorate dissertation plagiarism seriously, and consider revoking his degree.
Peter Wood has a history of successfully pressuring other Universities to do the right thing and revoke degrees of doctoral plagiarists. He demonstrates a thorough review of the two dissertations and points out many instances of plagiarism. When I brought attention to this issue, the Katy ISD board of trustees responded by voting to hire outside counsel to sue unnamed individuals for defamation of Dr. Lance Hindt.
Will the Katy ISD Board of Trustees now be suing Peter Wood for defamation? Or is it possible that our own Board of Trustees is intentionally covering up for a cheater?
When the district was asked about the plagiarism allegations, this was their response:
“There is zero truth to this allegation,” said Maria DiPetta Katy ISD spokesperson. “We are confident in the degree conferred by the University of Houston.”
Katy ISD School Board President Ashley Vann also commented saying, “This is verifiably false and appears to be a personal attack on Katy ISD and its superintendent of schools. As we’ve said before, Dr. Hindt was fully vetted and the Board continues to stand firmly behind him as the District’s superintendent.” (Source)
