Katy ISD routinely allows the counties in which it resides to use District facilities and campuses as polling locations. These rental agreements are governed by Board Policy GKD the corresponding regulations. When renting a facility, the Counties are required to pay the previously established fees. Towards this end, Harris County has used Katy ISD facilities in past elections as voting locations. Harris County has an outstanding balance of $1,570.00 owed to Katy ISD. In order to finalize payment, they have asked that the District enter into the attached fee agreement. The District administration recommends the Board authorize counsel to finalize the agreement and ensure payment.

Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson, LLP has assisted Katy ISD in the collection of delinquent property taxes for several decades. They have a long history of demonstrated competence in the State of Texas and locally as experts in this area. As contemplated by the attached agreement, the firm is paid not by Katy ISD, but by the mandatory penalties on delinquent taxes owed. Given their history and expertise, the District’s General Counsel recommends that the Board of Trustees approves the renewed engagement of Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson, LLP for property tax collection services.
